A hundred olive trees donated by the Australian government were planted at the Ta’ Qali national park this morning.

The trees were planted by Australia’s High Commissioner Anne Quinane, in the presence of Rural Affairs Minister George Pullicino, at an area which is to be called Australia Grove.

Hundreds of people are spending the day relaxing at the park, which includes the BOV Adventure Park, inaugurated at the end of last year.

Mr Pullicino thanked the Australian government for the trees and said the government planned to continue returning open spaces to the people to be used by families for their recreation.

The extension of Kennedy Grove was also concluded last year and many families were also enjoying themselves in this area today.

Mr Pullicino said his ministry was embarking on a number of projects including the creation of a Family Park at a former rubbish dump in Marsascala, a park in Delimara, the transformation of Maghtab into a park and the maintenance and opening of other recreational spaces.
