An old Maltese bus has been transformed into a mobile souvenir shop.

The 1964 bus retains its old colours and original features, including a  statue of St Mary above the windscreen.

Known as L-Iskafi, the bus was built in Malta from the chassis up, said Norbert Abela, 22, the owner's son. His sister Dorianne said it was heartbreaking to see the bus withdrawn from service but it has been given a new lease of life in tourist hotspots like Sliema, Vittoriosa and Valletta.

“The feedback has been great, from locals and tourists alike. If we charged a penny for every photo taken with the bus, we won’t need to sell souvenirs to make money,” Mr Abela laughed.
