In his famous essay regarding aging and death, Cato Maior de Senectute, the great Roman philosopher and statesman Cicero writes: “It is not by muscle, speed or physical dexterity that great things are achieved but by reflection, force of character and judgement; in these qualities old age is usually not… poorer but is even richer.”

How much are we benefitting from old people’s reflection, force of character and judgement? Are we really consulting them and actually listening to their advice?
