The three senior officials at the Education Ministry who have been blamed for the suspension of EU funds for students’ programmes by an inquiry board, have resigned.

The Office of the Prime Minister said this evening that Christopher Bezzina, Robert Tabone and Mauro Pace Parascandolo submitted their resignation and it was accepted.

The Prime Minister appointed Paul Zahra as acting permanent secretary, Chris Magri acting head of the national authority and Reuben Pullicino as acting national coordinator of the EU Programmes Agency.

In their resignation letters, the three official said they did not agree with the conclusions of the report and were offering their resignation without any prejudice towards any action they might take in the future.
