Tony Formosa writes:

Benny Pace was a perfect gent whose national pride was even bigger than his love for Valletta and all that it stands for.

For decades he worked tremendously hard to promote sport in Malta and this he did as a journalist and through a number of publications on sport in Malta throughout the years.

The Fair Play campaign was certainly never directed at Benny as he always played fair, whatever he did: in his articles, different contributions, criticism and general approach. He was well liked and highly informative. In fact, one can call him the first historian of Maltese sport. When one had a query on who, where and when he was always there to give facts and all relevant details.

He was the first to honour Maltese sportsmen/women by introducing the Sportsman of the Year Award way back in 1960 and was given a hard time when others tried to emulate his efforts.

For all that you have done, through dedication and enthusiasm, the sporting family is ever so grateful.

Thanks Ben.

Rest assured of our prayers.

Sincere condolences to his dear ones.
