Obinna Obiefule grabbed a well-taken hatrick to propel Mosta to a comfortable 4-1 victory over Qormi that all but wrapped up their place in the BOV Premier League for another season.

The Nigerian was an absolute protagonist as his hat-trick increased his tally of goals for the season to 34 goals to set a new all-time record.

The previous best was set by Danilo Doncic when he had scored 32 goals.

Mosta took the lead on 15 minutes when Obiefule was first to Ian Zammit's curling cross and his glancing header flew into the bottom corner to the delight of the Mosta fans.

The Nigerian struck again on 24 minutes when he did well to chest down Kane Farrugia's cross and unleashed a powerful shot on the turn that hit the back of the net.

The match was all but wrapped up on 37 minutes when Qormi goalkeeper Matthew Farrugia misjudged Falzon's cross with the ball falling to Obiefule who quickly set up Florent Raimy who headed into an empty net.

Mosta grabbed their fourth goal on 70 minutes. From a corner action, Falzon's cross was not cleared by the Qormi defence with the ball falling to Yannick Ossok whose low shot was blocked by a defender and from the rebound Obiefule hammered the ball home.

Two minutes later Qormi pulled a goal back when Joseph Chetcuti dispossessed Federico Tisbi in the area and the Qormi midfielder easily curled the ball past Debono.

Mosta striker Obinna Obiefule was voted as the BOV Player of the match.
