US President Barack Obama collected the Nobel Prize for Peace at a lavish ceremony in the Norwegian capital today

Critics say the honour is premature for a leader escalating the war effort in Afghanistan and yet to show progress in other key areas like the Middle East.

After receiving the award in Oslo Obama noted the criticism but says that may subside if he achieves at least some of his goals.
