The Oasi Treatment Centre in Gozo believes that a tranquil garden would provide important therapy for its clients and needs help to get plants and garden furniture to spruce up the current neglected area.

Fifteen staff from HSBC's Gozo branch will be dedicating their time on March 19, a public holiday, but the foundation wants to obtain as much as possible in advance so that they can lay out the garden on the day.

The foundation - which helps people overcome drug and alcohol addictions - has compiled a wish-list, based on plants which require minimal maintenance and is asking for plants or donations:

• 2 olive trees
• Strelitzia plants
• Rosemary bushes
• Lavender bushes
• Acalyphas (coloured leaves)
• Bromeliads
• Schefflera (umbrella plants)
• Hibiscus
• Lantana
• Aloes
• Wild garlic
• Cane

It also hopes to incorporate a gazebo with table and chairs for outside relaxation, some benches and also a bird aviary.

Anyone able to contribute in any way to the project could contact Demis Bajada at OASI on 2156 3333.
