A nursing officer at the Mtarfa Day Care Centre for the Elderly has been cleared of sexually harassing four of his subordinates.

Carmel Grixti, 48, from Luqa was charged in August last year with harassing Moira Gauci, Abigail Azzopardi, Phyllis Phillips and Charmaine Scicluna.

The women, who work as carers at the home, gave their testimony behind closed doors.

In his judgement, Magistrate Anthony Vella ruled that the women’s testimony was not credible. He said the women seemed to be recounting an experience they heard about and not something they went through themselves.

Moreover, Ms Scicluna changed her version in the final sitting and declared during cross examination that her story had been made up.

Lawyer Giannella de Marco appeared for Mr Grixti.
