A 37-year-old former nurse has pleaded guilty to starting two fires at a Sydney nursing home that killed 11 people in November 2011.

Among the victims were  two Maltese, Caesar Galea 82, and Emmanuela Cachia, 75. Emmanuela Cachia, formerly of Tarxien, died some time after the blaze, having been treated in intensive care, and her death was not included in the original charges.

The fire destroyed much of  Quakers Hill Nursing Home, which had over 80 residents inside at the time.
