Married recently at St Paul's Cathedral in Mdina were Maria Louise Matthews, daughter of Philip and Paula Matthews of Kent, UK and James Anthony Scicluna, son of France and Donna Scicluna of St Julian's.

Nuptial Mass was celebrated by Fr Victor Akongwale of St Edmund's parish church, Beckenham Kent, UK. The bride was given away by her father Philip Matthews. Paula Matthews, the bride's mother and Donna Scicluna, the groom's mother witnessed the ceremony. Tim Hunter was best man.

The bride wore a full-length, white, silk gown with beading. She was attended by Nathalie Drieu, Alice Bailey, Alexander Beechinor-Collins, Evelyn Scicluna-Chapman and Hannah Beechinor-Collins as bridesmaids. Freddy Weir was pageboy, and David Dwight was Toastmaster.

A reception was later held at the Hilton Gazebo restaurant for a meal prepared by head chef, Joe Vella, followed by a party.

The couple spent their honeymoon visiting the new Seven Wonders of the World including the Pyramids, Petra, the Taj Mahal, The Great Wall of China, Chichen Itza, Machu Picchu and the statue of Christ the Redeemer in Rio de Janeiro.
