A development application has been submitted to build a hostel on the site of the former St Vincent School at St Julian’s Hill in Balluta, belonging to the Sisters of Charity of Saint Jeanne Antide.

The application (PA 2937/15) to replace what was a residential unit and a school run by the nuns, who have since leased the land, was filed in May.

The school closed a number of years ago. The land remains the property of the nuns, which, according to Provincial Superior Salvina Bezzina, allowed them to retain certain conditions on the development. Since the site served as a school, they wished to retain its educational orientation.
