Maltese junior songstress sweeps the board at international competition
Annalise Scalpello Desira, 10, the grossly talented daughter of Ephraim and Josiette Scalpello Desira, recently triumphed in the prestigious Junior Miss Songstress of the Central Mediterranean contest, held at the Mgr Alberto Demicoli Borg Hall, Bengħajsa.

Annalise placed 71st in a strong field, with her rending (sic) of the beautiful song: Man I feel Like a Woman, first made famous by 'Sharia Twine'. Annalise beat off competition from places as far apart as Żejtun, Mosta and even Għasri.

Annalise's mother Josiette told us: "As a result of Annalise's amazing achievement, she has been offered a recording contract by major Birżebbuġa record label Underage Records. A glittering future beckons.

Malta Day celebrated in Baku
Malta's ambassador to Azerbaijan, Chevalier Norbert Tagliaferro Watkins recently held a reception at Malta House in Baku, in honour of Malta's National Day.

Among the glittering array of nonentities who attended were the Azerbaijani Deputy Minister for Mines and Sanitation and Ms Sezeki, the chargé d'affairs at the Western Samoan consulate and Miss Fifi La Grope, the Saudi Arabian ambassador and Ms Bin Laden, the visiting Lord Mayor of Bradford and Ms Shah. Plus sundry freeloaders, backpackers, gatecrashers and asylum seekers.

In his speech, Ambassador Tagliaferro Watkins augured that the deep and flourishing friendship between Azerbaijan and Malta would deepen and flourish. In reply, the Deputy Minister for Mines and Sanitation said: "Sure... Right on... Whatever."

World famous superstar Todd Stools stays at the Collapso Palace Hotel
World famous singing superstar Todd Stools, who recently gave a sell-out concert at Luxol Grounds, was hosted at the Collapso Palace Hotel.

When asked how he was enjoying his time among us, Mr Stools replied: "Yeah, it's great. I've always wanted to come to Moldova and now a dream has come true."

In the photograph above Mr Stools is seen receiving a memento of his stay at the Collapso Palace Hotel from the hotel's handyman Albert Fawlty Stellini.

The fact that the memento was actually Mr Stools' bar bill probably accounts for the less than euphoric expression on his face.
