November was the sixth driest since 1923, the Met office at Malta International Airport said today.

Precipitation was just 19.2mm compared to the November norm of 80mm.

The wettest November was in 1999 when rainfall totalled 420.3mm.

The Met Office said that last month had an average of 6.7 hours of sunshine per day and an average humidity of 74%. There were two days of thunderstorms compared to the usual four.

The mean temperature was 18.2 degrees, whereas the norm is 17 degrees Celsius. The mean maximum temperature of 20.9 degrees was also warmer by 0.8 degrees.

Sea temperature was 0.9 degrees higher than the November norm of 20.3 degrees Celsius.

The average wind speed last month was 7.8 knots with the most frequent direction being the south-west. The strongest gust was 33 knots. The strongest ever November gust was 60 knots (69mph) from the North Northwest on November 5, 1988
