An appeal has been made to the public to enter Valletta from the periphery for the sixth edition of Notte Bianca on Saturday for an alternative experience.

Such entrances include Victoria Gate and the Baviera, where activities will be held.

The event, between 11 p.m. on Saturday and 3 a.m. on Sunday, will include the participation of some 500 artists in 75 locations around Valletta.

Activities will include live music, theatrical performances, guided tours, art exhibitions and free entrance to museums.

Addressing a news conference, artistic director Peter Busuttil said that Valletta's two local band clubs – La Vallette and King's Own, will be performing together at Castille.

Another four bands from outside the City will be joining two mass bands showing that, although band clubs are known for their rivalry, they can work together.

Also getting together will be the four organisations in charge of feasts in Valletta who will be decorating the whole of Republic Street.

Mayor Alexei Dingli said that although the roads leading to Valletta will be closed to traffic as from 6 p.m. residents will still be allowed to enter. Some parking has also been reserved for residents as their participation in the event was of utmost importance.

He said that 11 Arriva routes were to be available on a shuttle service, served by 88 buses.
