The Malta Council for Culture and the Arts insisted this morning that Notte Bianca in Valletta would go ahead as planned this Saturday.

The council was reacting to the granting, by a court, of a provisional warrant of prohibitory injunction over a tender for lighting and sound.

"The allegation that the tender for lights and sound was dropped by the MCCA is completely false. The allocation of contracts for lights and sound for some of the venues has had to be temporarily suspended, pending the outcome of an appeal to the Contracts Division by one of the unsuccessful tenderers.

"The services that form the subject of the tender in question are not significant to the event as a whole," the council said.

"Notte Bianca will take place as planned and more information on the much-awaited event will be appearing in the Press over the coming days."
