Together with my wife, I joined the many thousands who went to our beautiful capital city Valletta for the Notte Bianca; using public transport was an excellent choice as we arrived in the hub of the activities stress-free.

The programme was full to the brim with entertainment. I must, on behalf of my British wife and other foreign friends in attendance, put forward the fact that there seemed to be only programmes in Maltese; this is such a shame when so many foreigners were in attendance. It might have been an innocent oversight which I do not wish to dwell on too much.

I personally had a vested interest to see Pino Scicluna’s presentation on the internees by St John’s Cavalier; it was extremely informative and very well acted by him. I found it rather emotional as my own father was one of the internees and it is part of our proud history which must never be forgotten.

There were activities in every nook and cranny. One cannot help but mention “Mr Valletta” himself – Freddie Mizzi – who like a good bottle of wine matures with age; his conducting and clarinet playing are just divine.

We have so much talent; I am sure that as a small nation we are the envy of many. So very well done to all those who organised, took part and in some way helped to make this year’s Notte Bianca another, even better, memorable night.
