US President Donald Trump said on Thursday he will invite North Korean leader Kim Jong Un to the US if their forthcoming summit goes well

The two will meet in Singapore on June 12 and Trump said it is all 'ready to go' and will be more than "just a photo-op"

Speaking to reporters as he welcomed Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe to the White House, Trump said that his meeting with Kim, which he briefly called off before reviving it, was now ready to go.

It was possible he and Kim Jong Un could sign an agreement to end the Korean War at their meeting and he would someday like to normalize relations with Pyongyang.

"Well it could be, we could sign an agreement, as you know that would be a first step ... but yes ... we're looking at it, we're talking about it with a lot of other people ... that's probably the easy part, the hard part remains after that," Trump said in answer to a question.

Abe said he hoped the summit would be a dramatic and transformational moment for Northeast Asia.
