The annual rate of inflation as measured by the Retail Price Index stood at 0.72 per cent last month, according to the National Statistics Office.

The NSO said that the annual rate a year earlier was 0.65 per cent.

The main upward impacts were recorded in the food, beverages and tobacco and transport and communication mainly due to higher priced vegetables, cigarettes and air transport services.

The largest downward impacts were brought by the water, electricity, gas and fuels Index and the household equipment and house maintenance costs index.

This was mainly due to lower electricity rates and discounted prices of carpets.

The 12-month moving average rate was 0.32 per cent.
