Barely weeks into the New Year, top Maltese doom metal act Nomad Son announced it has been confirmed as part of the line-up for the Elements of Rock Festival, an international event featuring acts covering a wide range of metal genres.

This year’s edition of the festival, which is being held in mid-March in the Swiss city of Uster, is all the more special as the annual event celebrates its 10th anniversary.

Apart from Nomad Son, other bands confirmed for the festival so far include Whitecross, Innersiege and King James from the US, Aliens Ate My Setlist and Sacrificum from Germany, Australian band Horde, Drottnar from Norway, For Christ Sake from Northern Ireland and Italian prog-metal act Metatrone.

Asked about the significance of Nomad Son’s appearance at the festival, Nomad Son bassist and lyricist Albert Bell said: “I had the privilege of playing at Elements of Rock some years back with Forsaken and I really have very fond memories of the festival. I can’t wait to hit the stage in Uster again this time with Nomad Son.

“The band excels on the larger stages abroad as our shows at Hammer of Doom, Doom Shall Rise and Headbangers Open Air in recent years have proved.”

The invitation to perform at Elements of Rock is testimony not only to Nomad Son’s standing within the international metal community, but also underlines the undisputed reality of the relevance and strength of Malta’s own metal scene, which is increasing its reputation in Europe and beyond despite the many odds the bands encounter.
