The European Commission has closed infringement procedures and withdrawn the case it had instituted against Malta before the European Court of Justice on the submission of noise maps, the government said.

In this case, the European Commission had alleged that Malta had not properly implemented the directive relating to the assessment and management of environmental noise because it had failed to submit the noise maps required by this directive.

In withdrawing the case, the Commission accepted that the Maltese authorities submitted the

required noise maps and were fully compliant with the relevant provisions of the directive.

Malta has no further cases pending at the Euroepan Court of Justice.
