The Malta Chamber for Small and Medium Enterprise - GRTU has directed gas distributors not to sell gas from fixed points in the various localities in protest against what it said were delays by Enemalta to adjust their commission.

The GRTU said the formula for the adjustment of the commission was agreed to a long time ago and was based on the level of salaries, fuel, maintenance and insurance costs.

It claimed it had waited for some time for a reply from Enemalta over the issue but the latter was dragging its feet to avoid taking a decision. Talks were meant to have reached a conclusion yesterday.

The GRTU said that the necessary adjustment must cover the period from January 1, 2006, as distributors had since then suffered a major rise in costs, notably fuel costs.

The GRTU said distributors are attending a meeting today to discuss further action.
