I would like to endorse Hazel Smith’s statements (August 28) with regard to NNG Promotions not refunding the cost of a ticket for Joseph Calleja’s July concert even after definite proof of the legitimacy of my excuse had been forwarded.
I had booked my four tickets as usual well before to the tune of €110 each plus an extra €3 charge since this was an online booking. I was also booked on Air Malta’s flight to the UK on Wednesday, July 28, that is a day before the intended postponed date for the concert, which made it impossible for me to be physically present. On enquiring by phone to ask about a refund for my ticket, I was directed by an answering machine (really impersonal) to e-mail Maltaticket and state my case.
The agency started off by asking me for definite proof of my flight and did not even accept my e-ticket as proof. I managed to get a copy of the VCR which constitutes definite confirmation by the airline. I must also state that Air Malta was not obliged to give me this information but a member of staff kindly went out of his way to help me.
So after exhausting all the requisites Maltaticket wanted and being led a merry-go-round in the process, I was curtly told that refunds are only entertained for reasons of cancellation and not postponement, and also to read the small print at the back of my ticket. This I did with the help of my electron microscope, and lo and behold it stated just that. So if I may ask, why all this beating about the bush?
NNG may have got my €110 this time but I assure them that they have lost far more, as they have lost my patronage and my trust.
