Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi insisted this morning that there was no instability within the government and this could be proven by the fact that the government was still there after four-and-a-half years in spite of the claims of instability throughout the legislature.
Speaking during a visit to four workshops at Handaq as part of the Nationalist Party’s activities to commemorate Independence Day on September 21, Dr Gonzi admitted there were some internal problems within the PN, which the party would continue to address internally in a robust and determined manner. He said that, in spite of everything, his government had achieved tangible results.
On the deficit, Dr Gonzi insisted that the government will reach its targets by the end of the year. His comments come on the back of a recent warning by the Central Bank that the government may have to take ulterior measures to reach its targets.
As Dr Gonzi was visiting the fourth workshop, singer Mary Spiteri could be heard on radio in the background singing Tema 79 from the rock opera Gensna, which commemorates Jum il-Helsien.
