The revision of local plans is not likely to include further extensions of  development zones except to address certain anomalies, Mepa chairman Vince Cassar said today

Speaking during a consultation meeting in Gozo, Mr Cassar said that even the Malta Developers Association has recently expressed itself along the same lines.

However, there might be cases which merited consideration to make amends for past mistakes.

It was also announced that a public consultation on an agrotourism policy would be launched in the coming weeks.

Other issues raised during the meeting were the need to improve accessibility to Gozo and the traffic situation in Victoria.

Mepa officials pointed out that such decisions had to be taken on a political level and remarked that the aim of local plans was for the best use of land to be made.

They said the authority would not be pronouncing itself at this early stage, so as not to influence public debate.
