The water supply to the Freedom Monument in Vittoriosa has been cut off because of unpaid bills.

Finance Minister Tonio Fenech was asked in parliament yesterday why the water supply to a room from where the monument greenery is watered, has been cut off.  The watering is done by a volunteer who uses a room under the monument.

Replying, Mr Fenech said no bills had been paid since June 25, 1996, and the Water Services Corporation therefore decided to cut off the service until the bills are settled, as is done for all other users.
