The feast of St Sebastian in Qormi will be scaled back this July out of respect for the two fireworks enthusiasts who died in February from an explosion at the parish factory in Ħandaq. The bodies of Damian Agius, 21, and Fredu Stellini, 56, were found at about midnight on February 22 beneath the concrete roof of the room they were working in at the factory compound in the limits of Qormi. Another two men were slightly injured and three escaped unhurt in the explosion, which occurred at about 6.15 p.m.

Out of respect for the two victims, there will be no fireworks throughout the week of the feast and the Sunday morning band march has been called off.
