John Sullivan (Loud Music Creating Noise Pollution, June 29) presumed that Mepa approved a development permit for works to be carried out in the Liquid Open Air Disco (former Vibes) in Tal-Balal, limits of San Ġwann, without responsibly ensuring that "modern" equipment should have also been installed to make certain that noise levels would be retained at a minimum. While the authority comprehends the inconvenience of loud music in the early hours of the morning, it would like to draw the attention of both Mr Sullivan and the readership that Mepa is not responsible for policing music levels in entertainment establishments or public areas.

The authority would also like to point out that it did not issue any permit for any works to be carried out in the open area of Liquid Disco-club.

Moreover, the authority issued an enforcement notice (ECF749 /09) against these works, directing that the land be returned to its original state.
