There were no bids for former Prime Minister Dom Mintoff’s vintage Mercedes in an auction this morning.

The car was, however, sold to a doctor following the auction this afternoon who offered to buy it for the starting bid of €20,000.

The 1962 Mercedes Benz 190D saloon was expected to get a much higher price than €20,000 due to its link with Mr Mintoff.

The grey Mercedes is powered by an 1,897cc diesel engine.
