Nine out of every 10 students are now furthering their studies beyond obligatory school age, the Ministry of Education said today.
It said the number of students in post-secondary education rose by four per cent in the past four years.
The ministry was referring to the results of a tracer study on the choices made by students once they complete secondary school.
The study was conducted by the National School Support Services within the Education Directorate.
It showed that 91% of girls and 87% of boys joined some post-secondary course.
The ministry pointed out that in 2013, it started offering alternative accredited programmes for those who wished to follow alternative methods of learning. They included the Alternative Learning Programme and the Youth Guarantee.
