There is no evidence that the statelessness determination procedure practiced in some European states was acting as a pull factor or leading to abuse of the asylum system, aditus foundation and JRS Malta said today in an open letter to the Home Affairs Minister.
In their letter, the organisations referred to comments by the minister that signing the UN conventions on statelessness risked absorbing Malta’s human resources and choking up the system with numerous irregular migrants saying they were stateless.
