The maximum temperature in Malta over the next two days is expected to be around 10 degrees Celsius and the minimum should hover around 6 degrees Celsius, the Meteorological Office said.

Its statements appear to dash claims for other sources, such as Italian site Meteoweb, which went so far as to claim that it may snow in Malta between tomorrow (Monday) afternoon and Tuesday morning.

Meteoweb said that temperatures at an altitude of 1,500 metres in Lampedusa, Pantalleria and possibly Malta, could go down to -4 and -5°C. The highest point in Malta is 253 metres.

The Met Office said that the mean maximum temperature for February, which is 15.6 degrees Celsius and the mean minimum temperature which is 9.4 degrees Celsius.

The weather for the coming two days is expected to be partly to rather cloudy with isolated showers possibly thundery. The northwest wind will increase to very strong tomorrow and will decrease gradually to rather strong by end of Tuesday.

Due to the strong winds, the wind chill factor (defined as the apparent temperature felt on exposed skin due to the combination of air temperature and wind speed) might make the temperature feel colder than the actual temperature.
