The Malta Maritime Law Association has launched its new website at www.mmla.org.mt, offering information in connection with the activities of the association.

The Malta Maritime Law Association (MMLA) is a non-profit organisation which was set up in 1994 by a group of Maltese maritime professionals aimed at promoting the study and advancement of maritime law and administration, while promoting the unification of maritime and mercantile law through correlation with similar bodies in other countries. The website, created and launched on the initiative of the association's research and administration executive Joe Borg Camilleri, focuses on Malta's maritime tradition, maritime heritage and Malta's role as a maritime hub of the Mediterranean. It is also a useful link for all the parties in the maritime environment and acts as a point of reference to those interested in the maritime sphere in Malta.

Reports and papers prepared by MMLA subcommittees or by individual MMLA members will also be available on its website. Other areas include the current activities of the association, the association's position during the EU Maritime Policy consultation process, the Association's statute and other general information. Persons interested in joining the association as members can find an application form which may be downloaded from the website.

The website is currently being launched in the English version only but versions in other languages are being planned since it is a member of the Comité Maritime International (CMI) network.

Malta Maritime Law Association said it is confident that its website will further disseminate its scope, while promoting Malta as a maritime centre of excellence.
