Prof Charles Farrugia is to be appointed University Ombudsman next Friday, taking over from Prof Victor Griffiths, whose term has expired, the Parliamentary Ombudsman Prof Joseph Said Pullicino announced this afternoon.

The University Ombudsman is appointed for a term of five years by the Parliamentary Ombudsman. His role is to investigate and report on any complaint by students, academic staff or employees of the University on matters related to the University as well as complaints by persons who were been refused entry into the University. He also suggests redress.

Complainants who would have exhausted this remedy may still bring their complaint to the Parliamentary Ombudsman.
