A new, state-of-the-art Domestica showroom was inaugurated by Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi in Valley Road, Msida, last Thursday.

The 3,000 square metre showroom displays the latest collection of 15 top international home brands and breaks boundaries with its eco-friendly, functional yet stylish approach to architectural design.

Domestica plans to increase its market in promoting prestigious designer brands which already include Berloni, Kartell, Nicoletti, Garofoli and Mafi among others.

The staff at Domestica has been increased to 40 and is being given in-depth training.

Managing director Chris Vassallo Cesareo said: "Today represents the beginning of a new chapter in the Domestica story, the continuation of a journey that was started 40 years ago by our father Leo when he first set up the business in a small garage in Marsa."

Dr Gonzi thanked the Vassallo Cesareo family for their continuous investment. He said: "This is the story of a company that has adapted to changing market scenarios and carved out new opportunities and niche markets. It is a company that has built its foundations on its highly-skilled labour force and the entrepreneurial flair of the family."

The showroom - the creation of Italian architect Enzo Eusebi, helped by architects Christian Spiteri, Pierre Farrugia and Mark Camilleri, and the interior design team led by Carlo Schembri - comprises an atrium, a shop-'n'-shop accessory store and three eco-friendly floors.

The ground floor offers visitors a comprehensive living room experience, with sofas, TV units, accessories and anything that you might expect to find in your chill-out area.

Bedrooms are located on the first floor.

Berloni kitchens occupy the second floor, while the third floor showcases custom-made furniture and furniture for corporate clients, including restaurants, retail outlets and hotels.
