The closure of the perched beach at Buġibba, which is undergoing sand replenishment, has been extended.

The tourism authority said the sand was due to be shipped from Jordan and the beach was meant to be closed until tomorrow. However, the vessel from the port of Aqaba has been delayed. The sand is expected to arrive between today and tomorrow.

St George’s Bay will get its new sand as scheduled between Monday and Thursday, but the Buġibba beach’s sand will arrive between Thursday and Saturday.

Triq ix-Xatt ta’ San Ġorg in St Julian’s and part of Dawret il-Gzejjer in Buġibba will be closed to traffic. Works are expected to continue through the night. For more information call 2291 5000 from 8am to 5pm or go to info.visitmalta@visitmalta.com.
