A new laboratory will be set up at the University of Malta to boost research into energy conversion from renewable sources.

It will be used for teaching and research in electrical energy generation, conversion, efficient use and supply quality.

The lab will benefit from funds from the European Regional Development Fund and will be operated by the Department of Industrial Electrical Power Conversion within the Faculty of Engineering.

The facility will enable research in energy conversion from sources such as solar and wind as well as the increase of electrical energy efficiency in domestic and industrial applications, among other things.

The Department of Industrial Electrical Power Conversion offers both first degrees and post-graduate research degrees in the area of Electrical Engineering.
