Fr Hector Scerri has been nominated president of the Theology Commission and the Ecumenical Commission by Archbishop Paul Cremona.

Born in 1965, Fr Scerri was ordained on July 2, 1993. For the past 10 years he has been vice-rector of the Seminary.

He has lectured in dogmatic theology at the University of Malta since 1998 where he was made head of department of in 2001.

Fr Emmanuel Agius, Fr Rene Camilleri, Fr Christopher Caruana, Fr Mario Delmar, Pauline Dimech, Anthony Frendo, Fr Paul Sciberras and Sr Marie Scicluna have been nominated as members of the Theology Commission. Fr Lino Azzopardi, Anna Caruana Colombo, Fr Reuben Gauci and Mgr Ġorġ Mifsud were nominated members of the Ecumenical Commission.

The president and the members of both commissions were given their letter of appointment yesterday by Archbishop Cremona.

The role of the Theology Commission is to advise the Archbishop on aspects of theology while that of the Ecumenical Commission is to strengthen the links between Catholics and other Christians in Malta.
