New police recruits who have their passing out parade later this afternoon have only spent four months at the police academy, PL spokesman Michael Falzon said.

In a statement, Dr Falzon thanked the 95 new recruits and wished them well but noted that their appointment showed that the force had been taken over by the political and electoral exigencies of GonziPN.

Dr Falzon said that the recruits course usually lasted between nine months and a year. Moreover, the group only included three women.

Considering all this, it was no wonder that the force was demoralised, he said.
