Dr Christopher Ciantar has been appointed Permanent Secretary in the Ministry for Resources and Rural Affairs. He took up his appointment on Thursday
Dr Ciantar joined the Ministry for the Environment in 1994 as an engineer in the Building and Engineering Department. In 1996 he read for an M.Sc. in Building Services Engineering from Brunel University (UK).
Dr Ciantar obtained a Doctorate in Philosophy from Bournemouth University (UK), in 2001. He was appointed Head of the Waste Management and Sustainable Initiatives Unit in the same year and Strategy and Development Executive of WasteServ Malta Ltd in 2003.
In 2005 he was appointed Director (Environment Policy & Initiatives) in the Ministry for Rural Affairs & the Environment.
