Fr Joseph Cilia has been appointed the new parish priest of Vittoriosa by Archbishop Paul Cremona .
Born in 1971, Fr Cilia received his primary education in Mosta and his secondary education in Naxxar, Paola and St Michael’s School, St Venera. He carried out his tertiary studies in the Faculty of Art and Theology (Philosophy and Theology).
Fr Cilia was ordained priest in 2001.
He started his pastoral work at the Mgarr parish where he served for one year. He was then appointed vice-parish priest of Qormi, St Sebastian for three years. During the last five years Fr Cilia has been serving as parish priest of Safi. As part of his pastoral work he was also a spiritual director at the Secondary School of tal-Handaq in Qormi.
The number of parishioners in Vittoriosa is around 2,958.
