Fr Victor Scicluna has been appointed the new parish priest of St Gregory's Parish, Sliema by Archbishop Paul Cremona OP.
Born in Paola on January 16, 1953, Fr Victor received his education in Paola Primary School and the Minor Seminary. He carried out tertiary studies in the Faculty of Theology (Philosophy and Theology) and in the Mediterranean Institute (Music).
Fr Victor was ordained to the priesthood in 1981. He was first appointed as vice-parish priest of Gżira, then as parish priest of Safi from 1989 to 1994. During this period he was also the Archbishop's delegate for Liturgy. Following that, he carried out pastoral work once again in Gżira, this time as a parish priest, until 2002. He then served as vice parish priest in Żejtun and to date as vice parish priest in Marsascala.
Fr Victor is the director of the Missionary Group ‘Kull Bniedem Ħija’ which carries out projects in Kenya and trains persons for experiences in poor countries. He is also the author of the book ‘Nitkellem Waħdi’.
The number of parishioners in St. Gregory’s in Sliema is around 3,500 gathered in 1,200 families.
