A new Lavazza training centre was recently launched in Malta by P. Cutajar and Co Ltd of Mrieħel. The main objective is to spread the culture of coffee and maintain quality standards at permanently high levels.

"The setting up of our training centre is a reflection of our commitment towards excellence in the serving of Lavazza in coffee shops, restaurants and hotels," says Clyde Attard, marketing manager at P. Cutajar and Co Ltd.

"We are going beyond our remit to import and sell packaged coffee, offering a full service and making an investment in consumers."

Managed by registered Lavazza auditor and trainer Norbert Lange, the Malta Centre organises courses that delve into the subject of coffee, its taste, the equipment used to make excellent brews, and methods of preparing and serving coffee. The goodness of coffee depends not only on the quality of the blend, but also on specific technical aspects before and during its preparation.

Courses are designed to maintain the highest standards of Lavazza excellence and to meet customers' needs by guaranteeing "best in the cup" quality, says Lange.

Experts in the hospitality business can further their knowledge on the history and geography of coffee, its distribution, characteristics, and global consumption patterns.

The Lavazza Training Centre Network was formed in the mid-1990s and from the main centre in Turin has spread worldwide, disseminating the Italian espresso culture.
