The election for a new Labour Party deputy leader for party affairs will take place between June 9 and 10, with the possibility of running the contest into the next day, in case of a run-off.
The national executive of the party met this evening and agreed to hold the extraordinary general conference after Konrad Mizzi stepped down from the post last week, just two months after his election in a one-horse race.
The nominations for the post open on Monday and close on Tuesday, May 9.
Dr Mizzi resigned the post after he was implied in the Panama Papers scandal.
So far, Economy Minister Chris Cardona has openly declared his intention to stand for the post, though other candidates are expected to throw in the hat.
