The Cabinet has approved the appointment of senior Magistrate Silvio Meli amd Magistrate Tonio Ellul as judges.

It also approved the nomination of lawyers Francesco Depasquale, Josette Demicoli and Neville Camilleri as magistrates, the Ministry of Justice said.

They are expected to be sworn in in the coming days.

Magistrate Meli has been a magistrate for 11 years and is also a member of the Commission for the Administration of Justice,

Magistrate Ellul was appointed in 2007 and serves in Gozo.

Dr Depasquale became a lawyer in 1995, and has been a judicial assistant to the Chief Justice since 2006. Dr Camilleri became a lawyer in 1999, and has served on the Refugee Appeals Board since 2004. Dr Demicoli became a lawyer in 1997 and has worked in the Attorney General’s Office.
