Acentic, a leading supplier of digital interactive TV (iTV) and broadband systems for the hotel industry, announced the launch of its new “Core GUI” yesterday.

Reflecting the latest expectations for the hotel in-room entertainment market and guests’ needs for easier, quicker navigation, the new guest user interface will also assist in driving incremental revenue.

Acentic announced that the Sheraton Amsterdam Hotel at Schiphol Airport is one of the first hotels with an Acentic system to have implemented the new GUI. Acentic’s new Core GUI is featured in the Sheraton Amsterdam’s 406 guest rooms catering to all its international business and tourist travellers.

Created by Acentic’s in-house Design Studio, the Core GUI was developed to be future-proof and cross-platform and is compatible with Acentic Panorama, as well as Acentic Vision systems.

The new Core GUI offers improved, ultra-fast navigation, user-friendly, icon-based navigation, full support for over 10 languages, simplified intelligent movie selection, Continuously updated blockbuster trailers. Themed content areas, such as family movies, Halloween movies or Christmas movies, to support seasonal and genre campaigns.

“Acentic Core GUI provides a high quality viewing experience that meets our international guests’ requirements for in-room entertainment while allowing the hotel to generate new revenue,” said Fred Smits, executive assistant manager Sheraton Amsterdam at Schiphol.

“Especially important is Acentic’s new GUI ability to enhance our hotel services to provide the very best in hotel guest room entertainment while offering new and unique content offerings to satisfy the guest,” said Mr Smits.
