Il-pjazza.com is the new home of Malta's largest online forum, with around 1,000 members from all walks of life and age-groups who regularly meet online to discuss anything under the sun.

Formerly hosted at www.x.com.mt, in itself an offspring of the original Xarabank TV programme online presence, the forum is more than just people expressing their ideas.

"We also regularly have a laugh together, send each other good wishes on birthdays and other special occasions, take part in competitions, polish our cooking skills on the Cooking Thread, share photos and challenge each other to online games," explained i-Tech Kelvin Cortis, one of the site administrators.

Just as the Roman forum was the place where people kept themselves updated about current affairs, learning in the process, today's online fora are very similar, since they keep people with hectic lifestyles in virtual contact with each other. Although most members live in Malta, il-pjazza.com boasts members living in countries as far flung as Ireland, Germany, the US, Canada, the UK and Belgium which this makes things that much more interesting.

The Pjazza itself is divided into different areas. The Zuntier is a fun, free, informal area where members just hang out and discuss light subjects. Talk is generally more heated and passionate in the Każin where issues relating to Malta, especially politics, are discussed. The Każin has its own regulars just like any village club-house, and the same goes for il-Grawnd, where the more sporty types (or those who enjoy watching instead of engaging in games) hang around and discuss anything to do with their favourite sport.

In the Gallarija fuq id-Dinja foreign affairs are discussed, and users gather in the Klabb tal-Boċċi to play a few online games. The Telegramma section is the place where all technological questions are asked, where members mull and solve problems together and it's to Tal-Gazzetti that we turn for the latest news and articles.
