The daughters of the late Dom Mintoff are being asked to pay €5,000 in planning fines by the new owners of their father’s Delimara villa, which they acquired last October for €250,000.

Known as l-Gharix, the property was acquired by 33-year-old Fgura businessman Silvio Cassar and his wife Marisa.

In a judicial letter filed this morning, the couple argued that they had purchased the property on condition that it was covered by all the necessary permits. Another condition stated that all outstanding contributions, including for roads and sewerage had to be settled.

However, soon after purchasing the villa, they received bills for a total of €4,942 with respect to planning illegalities and unpaid planning authority contributions.

The judicial letter gave, Mintoff’s heirs, Yana Joan Bland Mintoff and Anne McKenna two days to settle the balance or face further proceedings.

Lawyer John Bonello signed the letter.
