Alexander Demarco has been appointed deputy governor for monetary policy at the Central Bank of Malta, with Oliver Bonello as his counterpart for financial stability.

Mr Demarco has been a deputy governor of the Central Bank of Malta since January 2014.

Economist Alfred Mifsud was appointed the deputy governor for monetary affairs in 2015, for a period of five years, but announced last June that he would be relinquishing his office, in the course of a civil dispute with his former partner Anna Zelbst.
