The Customs Department new €2 million x-ray scanner, co-financed by the European Union, has now arrived in Malta and it is being installed at the Freeport.

The department has also completed another €0.5 million investment at the Freeport in the modernisation its warehouse and the enhancement of its scanning facilities. This project will be officially inaugurated early next year.

Meanwhile, this week, the Customs Department registered another break-through when the Planning Authority approved the development of a new Canine Unit Compound at Hal Far.

The Canine Unit project is also being co-financed by the European Union. A tender for the development will soon be issued.
